Miranda Ashley was born and raised in the uniquely multi-cultural Rio Grande
Valley. Miranda began her 19 years of dance experience in Harlingen Texas, and eventually became involved in the Cosmopolitan Ballet Theatre, where she is currently the Assistant Director of Summer Intensives. Miranda has taught dance since she was 12, and at the age of 20, she opened her own Dance Studio with the Lyric Theatre in Brownwood, Texas. There she was the owner of the Lyric Dance Studio and choreographer for the Lyric Theatre. Miranda is trained in several methods of Ballet, including the Vaganova method, along with Jazz, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Ballroom, and Folkflorico (part of the cultural heritage of the Rio Grande Valley). When Miranda choreographs, she first sees the idea and concept she wants to convey to the audience and then crafts the dance around it, making her movements stanzas in a poem of motion. In teaching, Miranda strives to make learning fun but disciplined and to train her students to use dance as a means of self-expression.
Miranda has worked with various performers, including members of Broadway’s Wicked, Footloose, and Les Miserables, DJ Smart, Brandon Perry Russell, Chase Madigan, and Tangy Lockman. Some of Miranda’s accolades include the 2014 International Models and Talent Association’s “International Dancer of the Year,” as well as the 2013 State 4-H Championship in Choreographed Routines. Performances Miranda has choreographed include, The Lion King Jr., Willy Wonka Jr., The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Oliver, Footloose, and Rogers’ and Hammerstein’s South Pacific. She has performed in countless productions, including Rogers’ and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma, as Dream Lori, and the Nutcracker.
Miranda is currently the Account Executive for Peace 107, KAGC, Peace Magazine for Bryan Broadcasting in College Station Texas.
