Taking the Leap: A Calypso Master Class with Dominick Oliver

Leaps are one of the greatest thrills in dance. Nail this impressive leap on your feet or on the floor! Refine the turning channé preparation to add height and precision to the calypso leap.

LEVEL 1 - Saturday October 13th at 4:00 PM

For dancers with at least 2 year of dance experience. Dancers will learn to break down both aerial, and floor based calypso turns, beginning with the initial turn to build momentum. 

Attire: Dancers must wear appropriate dance wear, and all long hair must be tied back in a bun or a ponytail. 

 

Class Level: Beginning/Intermediate, 6+ years old
Prerequisites: 2 years of dance
Jazz/Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Contemporary
Tuition: $30
Date: Saturday, Oct. 13 at 4:00-5:00 PM


LEVEL 2 - Saturday October 13th at 5:15 PM

For dancers with at least 3 years of Jazz/Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Contemporaryexperience. Dancers will refine both aerial, and floor based calypso turns, and work both turns into a combo. 

Attire: Dancers must wear appropriate dance wear, and have long hair tied back in a bun or a ponytail.

 

Class Level: Intermediate/Advanced, 11+ years old
Prerequisites: 2-3 years of Jazz/Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Contemporary
Tuition: $30

DOMINICK OLIVER

Dominick Oliver graduated from Bryan High School in 2014. He played tuba in the Viking Band for a year before joining the color guard for his junior and senior years. In color guard, he excelled in dance, flag and weaponry skills.

He was a member of the Bryan High Chorale and Vocal Legacy and was cast for the Bryan High musicals Crazy for You and Wizard of Oz.

For the past 2 years he has attended classes and danced competitively at MCM Studios in Bryan, and for the past year has taken ballet partnering at Pure Energy Dance Productions.

He is a 2015 cast member of the Houston-based Redemption Color Guard, an independent open class color guard that competes in the Texas Color Guard Circuit and the Winter Guard International Circuit
