A native of Bryan, Heather began her dance training at 11 years of age at a small dance school in southern Georgia. Heather won many scholarships to various dance conventions and schools across the U.S. She began assistant teaching and choreographing at the age of 14. Teaching competition classes throughout high school and college, dancers under her tutelage have won numerous awards, as has her choreography.
In addition to training at national dance conventions, and the Sam Houston State University Dance Department, Heather has had the privilege of training at the Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, CA on scholarship under the direction of Joe Malone, and taking classes and learning choreography techniques from great artists such as Emmy award-winning Marguerite Derricks, Michael Rooney, Mia Michaels, and other choreographers seen on the hit show "So You Think You Can Dance."
For the past 20 years, Heather has had the privilege of teaching and choreographing at dance schools across the country from Georgia to California, Massachusetts, and Texas. From 2005 to 2010, was the Competition Director for Lisa's Dance Connection, one of the largest dance schools in Central Texas. In late 2010, Heather relocated with her husband and 2 children to the small, rural town of Franklin, TX and opened The Dance Room, where she continues to teach.
In 2015 Heather also became a member of The Texas Association Teachers of Dancing (TATD), taking her examination in Ballet. She has enjoyed teaching fellow instructors in this organization, as well as taking classes from other members.
Heather is excited to be a part of the dance class instructor staff at Pure Energy Dance Productions, and is looking forward to sharing her experience and love of dance with The Pure Energy Competition Companies!
