Flexibility Masterclass

If done incorrectly, working on flexibility is not only frustrating, but it can be dangerous too! No matter the style, all dancers benefit from having the use of their body's maximum range of motion. In this workshop we will walk through a proven method of safe stretching for dancers. 


  •  How to correctly progress through stretches
  •  Which muscles work together to increase flexibility
  •  How stretching incorrectly could be DECREASING flexibility 
  •  Methods designed to quickly but safely increase flexibility (aka:isometric stretching)

Class Level: Beginning/Intermediate
Prerequisites: 2-3 years of dance

Ellen Wilcox has been dancing since she was very young. She trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and modern until the age of 14 when she began to focus solely on ballet. Ellen graduated from Texas A&M with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Dance Science. During her time at A&M, Ellen worked as the Assistant Ballet Director at Center Stage Productions in Bryan. After college, Ellen moved to Austin where she trained in and taught ballet, ballroom, and social dance.
